Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, two Bollywood film stars, began their careers simultaneously. Surprisingly, Ajay Devgn’s debut film, “Phool Aur Kaante,” was initially supposed to be Akshay Kumar’s debut. However, fate had other plans, and the movie did not align with Kumar’s destiny.
In an interview, the actor of “Mohra” accused Ajay Devgn of snatching his debut film, claiming that he was ousted from “Phool Aur Kaante” and someone else was signed in his place. However, when Ajay Devgn was informed about the situation, he shared his version of how he replaced Akshay Kumar in the movie.
During an interview, Akshay Kumar, while speaking to a group of journalists, revealed, “We both began our careers together. We started in a way that we even fought for the same film. The first film that was mine, Phool Aur Kaante, he then took it away from me by pushing me out.”
However, Ajay Devgn presented a different account of how he was cast in the movie. In an interview quoted by India Today, the actor revealed, “I used to attend college until 11 am and then work as an assistant director throughout the day. I was thoroughly enjoying my life, making my own films. Suddenly, one day I returned home, and Kuku Kohli (director of Phool Aur Kaante) was sitting there with my dad. My dad always wanted me to become an actor. Kuku ji told me, ‘I want you to do a film for me.’ I was taken aback and said, ‘Are you crazy? I’m just 18 years old, and I’m enjoying my life.’ However, he insisted and said, ‘No, no, you are doing a film.'”
Initially, Ajay Devgn rejected an offer to shoot for a movie but later agreed to it when he was informed that Akshay Kumar could not offer bulk dates due to his preference for a well-known director’s film over Kuku Kohli’s. Ajay Devgn made his debut in Bollywood in 1991 with Phool Aur Kaante, and has acted in over 100 film. Akshay Kumar also made his debut in 1991 with Saugandh.
Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar had great chemistry in the 1994 film Suhaag. They also had a memorable banter in Rohit Shetty’s film Sooryavanshi. In the upcoming film Singham Again, their roles will be swapped.
