Massive fire breaks out at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, no injuries

A fire has started at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, leading to emergency actions being taken.

A fire broke out at a check-in counter in the departure area of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. As a result, Section 3C for departures was closed on Wednesday.

As soon as people heard about the fire, two fire trucks quickly arrived at the location. According to Anandabazar Patrika Online, two more fire trucks were sent later to control the fire within about 30 minutes. The incident caused fear among the passengers. However, vigilant CISF officers immediately took action to ensure the safety of the passengers and started firefighting operations at the same time.

A small fire broke out at the security check-in area of the departure section in the airport. The airport authorities quickly evacuated the area.

According to the Bengali daily Sangbad Pratidin, Sujit Bose, the Minister of Bengal Fire and Emergency Services, mentioned that the firefighters present at the scene took every necessary measure to ensure the safety of everyone at the airport. Multiple media reports state that airport terminal operations had to be temporarily halted due to the fire.

According to a tweet by Kolkata airport, there was a minor fire and smoke at check-in area portal D at 9:12 pm. The fire was fully extinguished by 9:40 pm. All passengers were safely evacuated, and the check-in process was suspended due to smoke in the area. The check-in and operations are expected to resume by 10:15 pm.

Right now, the exact reason behind the fire is not known. However, at least two firefighters quickly reached the spot to extinguish the fire. Officials have stated that there are no reports of any injuries or casualties, as reported by PTI.
