On Wednesday ICC declares the prize pool for the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle of the winning team.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has declares the prize pool for the World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. According to the official announcement, the nine participating teams in the final will collectively receive a substantial amount of Rs 31.4 crore, which remains unchanged from the previous cycle (2019-21). The highly anticipated final, taking place at Lord’s in London, will commence on June 7 and feature India and Australia. The ICC will award the winning team of the WTC Final a massive prize of around Rs 13.22 crore, while the second-placed team will receive approximately Rs 6.61 crore.

The tournament prize money for the World Test Championship remains unchanged from the first edition (2019-21), with a total amount of $3.8 million (approximately Rs 13.22 crore). In the previous championship held in Southampton in 2021, New Zealand, led by Kane Williamson, received a reward of $1.6 million (around Rs 6.61 crore) after their victory over India by eight wickets in a rain-affected six-day WTC final. This information was mentioned in a statement released by the ICC.
South Africa, despite missing out on a spot in the WTC final and currently ranking third in the points table, will receive approximately Rs 3.72 crore.
In contrast, the ICC will award England, who made a strong comeback and secured the fourth spot in the standings, a prize of $350,000 (approximately Rs 2.9 crore).
Sri Lanka, one of the top teams in the competition, finished in fifth place and won $200,000 (approximately Rs 1.65 crore). The teams that came in sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth place, which are New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, and Bangladesh respectively, will each receive $100,000 (around Rs 82.7 lakh).
