Ajinkya Rahane Sets a New Record: Completes 5000 Runs in Test Matches”

Ajinkya Rahane has become a part of the elite group of Indian cricketers who have scored over 5000 runs in Test matches. Prior to Rahane, only 12 batsmen had completed this remarkable feat. With his recent achievement, Rahane has become the 13th Indian player to achieve this milestone in Test cricket.

Coming in to bat at the fifth position, Rahane played a crucial role in India’s batting performance on Day 2 by scoring 29 runs off 71 balls. On Day 3, after his partner KS Bharat got out early, Rahane continued to guide India’s innings with occasional boundaries.

Rahane played a brilliant shot against Australia’s captain Pat Cummins, hitting a four and a six over the fine leg boundary. With this impressive shot, he completed his half-century off 92 balls. Whereas, Rahane became the first Indian player to score a fifty in a WTC final.

Ajinkya Rahane set another Record

Ajinkya Rahane is performing exceptionally well with his bat at The Oval. He has been playing a crucial role for the Indian team and has already scored 89 runs off 122 balls in the first innings. Notably, alongside these outstanding performances, he has achieved a remarkable milestone. Ajinkya Rahane has now joined the exclusive group of players who have scored 5000 runs in Test cricket for India.

Ajinkya Rahane is the 13th player to achieve this record for the country. In his career of 83 matches, he has scored 12 centuries and 26 fifties, with an average of slightly over 39. Prior to Rahane, only 12 batsmen had accomplished this feat for India. Now, his name has also been added to this prestigious list.

Ajinkya Rahane was just a few runs away from scoring his 13th century in Test matches before the lunch break. If he had managed to score 11 more runs after the break, he would have achieved this special milestone. Currently, he got out after scoring 89 runs in 122 balls, with a strike rate of 72.95. Throughout his innings, Rahane hit 11 fours and a fantastic six.

Rahane, who celebrated his 35th birthday on Tuesday, is playing his first Test match for India since January 2022. He was dropped from the team due to his poor form. In the 2022-23 domestic season, Rahane led the West Zone team to victory and also captained Mumbai to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He performed exceptionally well in the Ranji Trophy, scoring over 600 runs. Rahane continued his success in the IPL, playing for the champion team Chennai Super Kings.
