Baby Movie Review: Storyline

The “BABY” (Telugu) movie is a cautionary tale about a girl named Vaishnavi from a slum who gets caught up in the allure of city life. As her naivety influences the lives of three main characters, including herself, the film explores the consequences of her aspirations. Vaishnavi’s relationship with her high school sweetheart, Anand, undergoes strain when she undergoes a significant transformation and grows closer to Viraj. The story takes a dramatic turn when an unexpected incident impacts the lives of all three characters, forming the crux of the narrative.

Baby Movie Review: Star Performance

Anand Deverakonda is pretty cool as the main guy who loves his girl no matter what. Man, his character goes through a whole rollercoaster of emotions. There are moments when Anand reminds us of his brother Vijay Deverakonda, especially with that line, ‘Na Pilla Bey,’ which got really popular in Vijay’s movie, Arjun Reddy. Anand’s still growing as an actor, you know? Like, he’s evolving and getting better all the time.

Vaishnavi Chaitanya steals the show, no doubt about it. She carries the entire film on her shoulders, right from the beginning till the end. Whether playing a Basti girl or a modern girl, Vaishnavi effortlessly showcases the best of both worlds. She’s the perfect fit for the role, and she truly captured the hearts of the audience. Hats off to the makers for their bold decision to cast her in this role.

Positive Points:

  1. The film “Baby” explores modern relationships through three distinct characters, skillfully portrayed by the director, Sai Rajesh. By the end of the movie, viewers will develop a fondness for all three main characters, thanks to the compelling writing. A standout moment in the film is the initial meeting between Viraj and Anand.
  2. The second half of the movie is where things really heat up. It’s got the perfect mix of drama, emotions, and intense scenes that hit you right in the feels. The impactful dialogues in “Baby” will resonate with the target audience, creating several memorable moments. The filmmakers knew exactly what they were doing by strategically including certain scenes that would resonate with the younger generation, and tell you that, they nailed it!
  3. Anand Deverakonda delivers an impressive performance, showcasing his immense talent. Through the character of Anand in “Baby,” the actor demonstrates his full potential, surpassing expectations. Despite the challenging nature of the role, particularly for a budding artist, Anand excels with his sincere portrayal.
  4. Vaishnavi Chaitanya shines in her role in this romantic drama, displaying her remarkable talent. Her character arc is well-crafted, and she performs admirably, especially in emotional scenes. The phone call scene between Vaishnavi and Anand Deverakonda is particularly outstanding. Viraj Ashwin also delivers a solid performance, perfectly embodying his character. This role stands out as Viraj’s best so far, and he handles it with perfection.

Negative Point:

The South movie “Baby” has a runtime of nearly three hours, making it quite lengthy. The filmmakers could have improved the overall experience by trimming down certain sequences, particularly in the first half. Additionally, the contemporary nature of the film may not appeal to everyone.

Our final words for Baby

Alright, let me break it down for you. Baby shines a light on modern-day relationships in a slick way, and let me tell you, the climax is something you won’t expect. The performances by Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, and Viraj Ashwin are top-notch, no doubt about it. The second half really hits the mark, but I gotta admit, the first half is a bit slow-paced, and it could’ve been even better. And hey, the runtime is a tad long, they should’ve taken care of that. Nevertheless, Baby is definitely worth watching this weekend. Don’t miss out on it!
