Dream Girl 2 Movie Review: The much-awaited movie, “Dream Girl 2,” starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has hit theaters today. This film is the sequel to the 2019 hit “Dream Girl.” In this installment, we see Ananya Pandey taking the place of Nushrat Bharucha. Wondering how the movie fares? Read on for the complete film review.

Dream Girl 2 Movie Review

“Dream Girl 2” is all about your dream girl, the one who fulfills all your desires. The concept of encountering this dream girl is both intriguing and uncertain. Everyone longs to meet her. In this film, renowned director Raj Shandilya brings this dream girl 2 (played by Ayushmann Khurrana) onto the silver screen. This dream girl appears at different times and places for various individuals.

Dream Girl 2 Storyline

The story revolves around Karam (played by Karamveer Singh), a middle-class guy from Mathura. His father (played by Annu Kapoor) has borrowed money from many people in the village but hasn’t been able to repay the debts. Karam’s girlfriend, Pari Srivastav (played by Ananya Kapoor), is a successful lawyer. The story kicks off when Karam and Pari meet at a function in their village and fall in love. The conversations about their marriage start to unfold.

Dream Girl Challenges and Twists

During the marriage discussions, Pari’s father learns about Karam’s father’s debts that remain unpaid. Consequently, Pari’s father isn’t willing to marry Pari to Karam until he can not deposit the 2.5 million rupees. This sets the stage for a series of events, leading Karam to take on different disguises to pay off his father’s debts and accumulate the required amount. In this film sequel, Pooja’s character replaces Mahi’s character.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Best Acting

The success of “Dream Girl 2” largely depends on Ayushmann’s acting prowess. He excels in acting, dancing, and portraying the character of Pooja. Ayushmann has undoubtedly put in a lot of effort to portray Pooja convincingly. However, sometimes excessive focus on a good thing might not yield the best results. As the story unfolds, Ayushmann’s magic tends to slightly fade, yet his acting keeps the audience engaged.

Dream Girl 2 Movie Review: Supporting Cast

The film features a strong supporting cast, including Paresh Rawal, Annu Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, and Manjot Singh. They contribute to making the film entertaining, even though the movie might lose some of its charm. Some characters come and go, much like Tiger Pandey. Veteran actor Asrani’s character adds value, though his behavior is a plus point for the film. However, towards the end, the special touch of “Dream Girl 2” starts to wane.

Ananya Panday’s Worst Performance

Ananya Panday’s weakest link in “Dream Girl 2” is her performance. Due to her filmy background, her character doesn’t make a significant impact on the film. Whether she’s on screen or not, it doesn’t seem to make much difference to the overall impact of the film. Her struggle to convincingly portray her role is evident. It reminds viewers of Nushrat Bharucha from the original “Dream Girl” movie.

Dream Girl 2 Music and Weaknesses

Following Ananya Panday’s performance, the music in “Dream Girl 2” is another weak point. The song “Dil Ka Telephone” from the original movie was a hit. Although it’s reused in this sequel, the other songs in the film aren’t as impressive. The first song where Pooja makes her appearance doesn’t suit her character. The director attempts to juggle multiple characters at once, sometimes leading to an overload of jokes and sometimes missing the mark entirely. Still, the film manages to keep audiences entertained.

Dream Girl 2 Movie Review: Conclusion

“Dream Girl 2” delivers a captivating storyline that keeps viewers engaged. However, as the film attempts to address the complex interactions between various characters, it sometimes loses its original charm. Despite that, it remains a decent time-pass movie. Ayushmann’s performance is a must-watch highlight in “Dream Girl 2.”
