Shakuni Mama Death – Veteran Actor Gufi Paintal Dies Due to Heart Failure In Mumbai

Gufi Paintal, known for playing the role of Shakuni Mama in BR Chopra’s TV show Mahabharat (1980), died at the age of 79, cause of death is said to be heart failure.

Veteran actor Gufi Paintal has passed away at the age of 79, as confirmed by his family. Gufi, famous for his portrayal of Shakuni Mama in the popular television series Mahabharat (1980), breathed his last in Mumbai on Monday due to health problems related to his age.

Unhappily, Gufi Paintal is no more. He left us in the morning, around 9 am, at the hospital. His heart stopped beating. According to his nephew Hiten Paintal, he peacefully passed away while sleeping.

Nitish Bhardwaj, in an interview with Hindustan Times, expressed his sorrow, saying, “I have lost a kind and humble friend and colleague. He was a simple and appreciative man who played a significant role in my life. May his soul find eternal peace.”

According to a statement from the actor’s family, as reported by the Indian Express, they sadly inform that their father, Mr. Gufi Paintal (known for his role as Shakuni Mama) passed away this morning in the presence of his loved ones. He peacefully departed from this world.

Tragically, Gufi Paintal, as mentioned in the report, succumbed to heart failure earlier today at around 9 am. At the age of 79, Gufi’s health had been declining, and he had recently been admitted to the hospital due to his critical condition.

What Gufi Paintal (Shakuni Mama) family said after his death

Hiten had informed PTI earlier that his uncle’s health had been declining due to age-related problems. “He had high blood pressure and heart issues. He had been feeling unwell for some time now. Recently, his condition worsened, so we admitted him to the hospital for observation. He has been there for about seven to eight days. Initially, his condition was critical, but now he is in a stable state,” Hiten shared with PTI.

Gufi is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and a grandchild. The final rituals will take place today at approximately 4 pm at a crematorium located in suburban Andheri.

Gufi has been a part of both television shows and movies. He acted in various shows such as Bahadur Shah Zafar, Mahabharat, Kanoon, Om Namah Shivay, CID, Ssshhhh Koi Hai Dwarkadheesh Bhagwaan Shree Krishn, RadhaKrishn, and Jay Kaniya lal Ki, among others. His first film was Rafoo Chakkar in 1975, and after that, he appeared in other movies like Dillagi, Desh Pardesh, and Suhaag.

A few days ago, actor Tina Ghaai posted a health update about Gufi Paintal on her Instagram account. Along with a picture of Gufi, Tina wrote, “Gufi Paintal ji takleef mein hain prarthana ki jeeye (Gufi Paintal ji is going through a difficult time, please pray for him).”
