Vidya Balan shared that she kept knocking on the door of the posh cafe and informed the customers that she hadn’t eaten anything all day.
Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who will soon appear in the upcoming movie Neeyat, admitted that she once acted like a beggar outside a fancy hotel in Mumbai as a challenge. She mentioned that she did it as a bet to win extra packs of Jim-Jam biscuits.
Vidya told Mashable, “You know, we had something called the IMG, which is the Indian Music Group.” Every year, they host classical music and Indian classical music events. It’s a three-day event that used to be all-nighters. It used to be fantastic. I was on the arrangement of a committee, or rather, a volunteer. We used to help plan things, and then afterward, we’d all go for a walk to Nariman Point.”
“Once I was challenged,” she said. They instructed me to go to the Oberoi-The Palms coffee shop and knock on the door, requesting food. ‘Oberoi main jo coffee shop hain, waha jaake tak tak karna aur dedo kuch khane ke liye,’ they said. Main rahe actor ko pata nahi tha. I kept knocking, and you know how people become upset when they hear that, so I did it a lot. I continued banging, pleading, ‘Please, I am hungry I have not eaten anything since yesterday.’ After a time, they simply turned away, and my companion became uncomfortable and pleaded, ‘Please come away.’ “However, I won the bet.”
When discussing her fondness for Jim-Jam biscuits, she said, “The challenge was about winning Jim Jam biscuits.” Britannia was our concert sponsor, and we had plenty of biscuits. But here’s the thing: if I accomplish this, I’ll get an additional packet of Jimjam, which I did.”
