Manoj Bajpayee’s Joram to Show at Durban International Film Festival

Joram is a gripping psychological thriller directed by Devashish Makhija and starring Manoj Bajpayee. The story revolves around a man who is displaced and running away to keep his daughter safe.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee’s Joram is set to be screened at the upcoming Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) next month, the makers announced Tuesday.

Devashish Makhija’s film is a gripping psychological thriller about a man who must flee his home to protect his daughter. The film is set in Jharkhand and addresses important topics such as social inequalities, unfair treatment of tribal communities, and the destruction of forests.

Joram, a film that has already been shown at the 52nd International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and was featured in the NFDC’s Film Bazaar, will now be screened as part of the ‘in competition’ category at DIFF next month. It will also be shown at the Sydney Film Festival next week.

Manoj Bajpayee expressed his gratitude for the love and recognition that Joram is receiving at international film festivals.

In a statement, the actor expressed his admiration for Joram, calling it a very special film. He also praised the director, Devashish, for his remarkable work and credited Zee Studios for their excellent support of the project. The actor further expressed his delight that the film will now be showcased at the Durban International Film Festival.

Makhija praised Bajpayee and the cast of Joram for their strong and impressive performances in the film.

The director expressed their admiration for Manoj Bajpayee’s performance in Joram, noting that it evokes strong emotions. They also praised the powerful performances of the rest of the cast. This film is the third project where Bajpayee and Makhija have worked together. They previously collaborated on a short film called Tandav and the well-received 2020 movie Bhonsle. Bajpayee’s performance in Bhonsle earned him the Best Actor National Award.

Joram is a film produced by Zee Studios in partnership with Makhijafilm, an independent production company co-owned by Devashish and curator-producer Anupama Bose.

The film features important roles played by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Smita Tambe, and Megha Mathur. Additionally, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Rajshri Deshpande make special appearances in the movie.

Patel expressed that Joram showcases advanced Indian storytelling by the talented Devashish Makhija. Zee Studios takes pride in pushing boundaries with this type of cinema and is excited about the film being chosen for the Durban International Film Festival.
